In Adana, the scaffolding collapsed while the roof-floor concrete of the Social Security Institution Provincial Directorate (SGK) service building, constructed by the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ), was being poured. In the accident, 1 worker died and 3 workers were injured, 1 of them seriously. The body of Zeki Alkanlı, the worker trapped under the rubble, was recovered after 3.5 hours of work.

The incident occurred around midday in the building under construction on Erdal Acet Avenue, Döşeme Neighbourhood, in the central district of Seyhan. While the concrete of the 3rd floor was being poured, the scaffolding collapsed with a loud noise for a reason that is not yet known. One of the workers, Hacı Çalış, was rescued by his colleagues with serious injuries. Zeki Alkanlı, however, was buried under the steel and timber formwork together with the freshly poured concrete. Following initial treatment in the emergency aid ambulance dispatched to the scene, Çalış was transferred to the Yüreğir Numune Training and Research Hospital. Meanwhile, 2 workers also sustained minor injuries to their feet and arms. They were treated as outpatients. Meanwhile, one injured worker told the emergency aid teams, "My friend is in the rubble, do not take me to the hospital."

The Provincial Civil Search and Rescue teams and the Metropolitan Municipality search and rescue teams worked for approximately 3.5 hours to rescue Zeki Alkanlı, who remained trapped under the rubble. As the teams recovered Alkanlı’s body, his relatives and friends who came to the scene were overcome with grief. After a preliminary examination, the worker’s body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy. The Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the accident.
