As the Building Inspection and Earthquake Engineering Association, together with our Board of Directors members, we visited the President of the TMMOB Chamber of Civil Engineers, our esteemed elder Mr. Selçuk Uluata, at the İMO headquarters. The visit was also attended by İMO Secretary General Mr. Bülent Tatlı, Chamber Board Treasurer Members Mr. İhsan Kaş and Mr. Orkun Kılıç, and İMO Ankara Branch Secretary Mahir Kaygusuz.
In our meeting, we discussed the critical issues that are the cornerstones of building safe cities:🔹 Building Inspection: The shortcomings in the current law and their reflections in the field,🔹 Site Supervision: The chronic problems experienced in practice and the ways to solve them,🔹 Construction Craftsmen: Inadequate inspection processes and the need for a deterrent penalty mechanism,🔹 Structural Designers: The operational difficulties encountered during inspection,🔹 Software and Design: Technical malfunctions experienced in structural project design programmes in our various provinces, and so on.
👷♂The Essence of Building Inspection: The fundamental purpose for which the building inspection system was established is not merely to create a bureaucracy that operates on paper alone, but to build living spaces that guarantee the safety of life and property, that meet international standards, and that are earthquake-resistant and high-quality.
🚧 The Importance of Site Supervision: Site supervision is a vital bridge in correctly translating safe projects into the field. We discussed the matters of each construction site being managed by competent and qualified site supervisors who focus full-time on their work.
We shared our problems and our mutual proposed solutions.
We thank our esteemed president and his management for their gracious reception.
