Ankara – Ankara Environmental Master Plan Targeting the Year 2050, Disaster and Earthquake Focus Group Meeting
🌐Our meeting on the Fundamental Disaster- and Earthquake-Focused Decisions of the 2050 Target Plan was held under the chairmanship of our esteemed Prof. Dr. Savaş Zafer Şahin, (as of 2026): Disaster-Resilient City Vision: The fundamental aim of the plan is to transform the city from being vulnerable in the face of earthquakes, the climate crisis and other disasters into a resilient one. Holistic Disaster Management: Instead of piecemeal zoning decisions, land use will be determined according to disaster risk analysis for regions, by means of a 1/100,000-scale upper-tier plan covering the entire province.
📌 Collective Wisdom and Academic Participation: More than 600 representatives from universities, professional chambers (TMMOB), non-governmental organizations and 55 stakeholder institutions are participating in the planning process, contributing in the light of academic data on disaster and earthquake risks. Zoning Based on Natural Data: The aim is to keep disaster-risk areas (earthquake, landslide, etc.) closed to development, to protect rural and agricultural areas, and to shape construction in accordance with this scientific data.
